In a video posted on Al Hilal’s social media platforms, Neymar expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Saudi club, declaring, “I am here in Saudi Arabia, I am Hilali.” He emphasized his aspiration to make sporting history anew and highlighted the dynamic energy and top-notch players currently present in the Saudi Pro League.
Neymar’s former team, PSG, bid farewell to the exceptional player, acknowledging his significant contributions over the past six years. PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi remarked, “It is always difficult to say goodbye to an amazing player like Neymar, one of the best players in the world.”
Neymar’s journey has seen its share of challenges, marked by injuries and shifting dynamics within the team. His legacy at PSG includes 118 goals in 173 matches, as well as securing five Ligue 1 titles and three French Cups. However, his tenure also witnessed a defeat to Bayern Munich in the 2020 Champions League final.
Now, Neymar looks ahead to his time with Al Hilal, a dominant force in both Saudi Arabia and Asia, having clinched an impressive 66 trophies and holding records for league and Asian Champions League victories. The Riyadh-based club is focused on bolstering their squad, a priority underscored by the Saudi Public Investment Fund’s recent commitment to a sports club investment and privatization project, which includes Al Hilal among other notable clubs like Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, and Al-Nassr.
