Pakistani vocalist Asad Abbas, who had been battling a severe kidney ailment and seeking financial assistance for his medical care, sadly breathed his last on Tuesday following an extended period of illness.
Enduring four days of weekly dialysis, the singer had fervently appealed to various quarters, including the media sector and politicians, in hopes of gathering support for his treatment. He had articulated a pressing need for Rs50 million to undergo a crucial kidney transplant.
“May the Divine Allah grant a vast abode to Asad Abbas and bestow upon him eternal tranquility. He displayed unwavering determination until the very end,” conveyed a message shared on Abbas’ Facebook account.
Confirmation of his passing was also provided by singer Sohail Haider on his Facebook profile. He expressed, “Yet another precious soul has succumbed. Rest in peace, Asad Abbas.”
In a collective effort, fellow musicians and artists, including actor Adnan Siddiqui, issued a heartfelt appeal urging the public to come forward and assist the ailing Coke Studio vocalist in his quest for a kidney transplant.
“Throughout his journey, Asad Abbas has graced our lives with his melodic voice, touching our souls with his emotive performances and musical brilliance. Yet, concealed beneath his immense talent, he now faces a personal battle that has placed him in dire financial straits,” expressed the actor in a poignant Instagram post.
Siddiqui passionately called upon individuals to unite and provide their support, emphasizing, “In times like these, our community must unite, offering aid to someone who has gifted us countless moments of musical elation. As fellow artists, it’s our obligation to stand by our comrades and extend a helping hand in their moments of hardship.”
He further appealed, “I implore each and every one of you to contribute according to your means to alleviate Asad Abbas’s financial burdens during this testing period. Your generosity, regardless of its size, will significantly alleviate his financial concerns, allowing him to focus on recovery and return to what he does best – crafting beautiful melodies.”
Earlier, Abbas had reached out to the public, humbly requesting assistance for the impending transplant. “My health is deteriorating, and I undergo dialysis four days a week. I beseech the media industry, politicians, and all those who are listening: I have proudly served my country, securing the Sangeet Icon title, a Lux Style Award, and a remarkable presence on Coke Studio. I have even been honored with a Pride of Pakistan award. Currently, I urgently require Rs50 million for the transplant.”
Notably, Asad Abbas had contributed to the musical landscape as part of Coke Studio’s sixth season, lending his voice to the mesmerizing track “Mahi Gal,” featuring Fariha Parvez.
